Thanks to everyone who came to Keep Calm and Geek On last Saturday! It was quite an event. Be sure to check out our photo album. If you won a prize in our cosplay contest, don't forget to pick it up!

This week, the library will be closed Thursday and Friday, so no Thursday program. We will have our Monday craft at 6:30 however, so come make some stained art crafts with us!

If your last memory of video games is a small yellow blob eating tiny white dots, then you might not know that video games have come a long way from the tiny pixels bobbing from one side of the television screen to the other. There are games that are epic adventures that seem to constantly have new materials to be discovered, even after 60+ hours of gameplay, like The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. There are games like Fallout 4 and Fallout: New Vegas that allow you to decide what lengths you will travel to save yourself from the after-effect apocalypse. In Dragon Age: Inquisition, you can choose sides and influence people, all while saving them from the evils that lurk in other dimensions—as well as slay dragons and live in a super huge castle.

In the Assassin’s Creed series, you can learn about historical places and people while using crazy technology to travel back in time through your ancestors and see how many bad guys you can take out.

If fantasy or RPGs aren’t your style, you can always go for the First Person Shooters like all of the Call of Duty games, Destiny, Borderlands, and Halo. There’s also the Mass Effect series that is a First Person Shooter (as is Fallout) but you can choose different paths like you would in an RPG. You deal with aliens, starships, and space.

Speaking of space and aliens, Dead Space is a super creepy game that will leave you sleeping with the lights on, even after you’re sure that you’ve gotten rid of the alien scourge. If the creep factor is your thing, we’ve also got a few games like The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, Silent Hill, and a few Resident Evils. The Bioshock series is also really spooky, especially those Little Sisters.

Even a casual player can get involved in fantastic puzzles and adorable plots in games like all of the various LEGO games and the Kingdom Hearts series—where you team up with Disney characters to defeat the Heartless. These are in a separate area of the library than those rated M, but they’re still super fun to play! Other notable games:
