I’m a cataloger. I am one of the lucky souls who add new items to the library catalog, so people can find what they are looking for – online or on the shelf. I have the privilege to catalog many of the library bound single issue comics for the Children’s department. Well, more like everyone in my department knows I love comics, and they let me do these because these comic books are often my precious (think Gollum and the ring). Recently, we received some great items that I’d like to share.
Groot. My favorite Guardian of the Galaxy – yes, the walking, talking tree is my favorite and he may be part of the answer to what happened to the Entwives – has his own short run. He’s probably the most squishable, lovable tree out there. He does good because he wants to, helping whoever might need it. He inspires those around him to be better, especially a certain cybernetically enhanced type (Hint: don’t call him a raccoon).
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur: BFF. I’ve read this set as a trade. It’s a coming of age story; it’s a time travel story. There are hairy ape-like men, tween girls, and dinosaurs – really just one girl and one dinosaur. She’s just trying to grow up while possibly being the smartest person on Earth and a possible Inhuman. It’s a tough life, and having a dinosaur along does not help. Or Lunella thought so at first.
TMNT/Ghostbusters crossover. Mutant reptilian ninja minors meet supernatural experts in this multi-reality bag o’fun. Donatello gets a little too experimental, sending himself and his brothers into a completely different reality where the good citizens of NYC rely on the helpful hands and minds of the Ghostbusters to deal with…ghosts. Seeing the Turtles team-up with the Ghostbusters, matching wits and combining brain power, is definitely high on the geek happy scale.
