Voting in the Time of Coronavirus

During election years, it’s always important to make sure that you know the deadlines for things like registering and when early voting starts. Below is some information about voting in 2020. Please read through carefully! If you have any questions about the process, you can contact the Benton County Clerk via email: countyclerk@bentoncountyar.gov or by phone (479) 271-1013.


  • –The deadline to register to vote is Monday, October 5, 2020.
  • –The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Tuesday, October 27, 2020. It’s best to request your ballot as soon as possible to make sure your vote is counted! The County Clerk’s office has already begun sending out absentee ballots to those who have requested.
  • Early Voting starts Monday, October 19, 2020. Please visit https://vote.bentoncountyar.gov/ for Early Voting locations as well as sample ballots.
  • –You can receive Absentee Ballot Applications and Voter Registration Forms through the Rogers Public Library. You can call us at (479) 621-1152 to pick these forms up via curbside pickup.

ABSENTEE BALLOT APPLICATION INFORMATION

  • –Absentee Ballots are already being mailed to those who have requested them. Please request your ballot as soon as possible!
  • –Once a voter has requested an absentee ballot, that request is noted on their registration record which prevents someone from voting at a polling site. Ballots are mailed to the address that the voter has indicated on the application and are returned to the County Clerk by the postal service if for some reason it cannot be delivered.
  • –The information below is how to fill out the absentee ballot according to Governor Asa Hutchinson’s statement that Arkansans can participate in absentee voting due to COVID-19.
        • –“Unavoidably Absent” will cover voters as their reason to receive absentee ballots.
        • –For the choice of elections, voters can choose: (Depending on which application you have.)
          1. General Election (November) and/or General Election Runoff
          2. Nonpartisan General Election only
          3. General Election/Nonpartisan Runoff & General Election Runoff OR
          4. All Elections

ABSENTEE BALLOT SUBMISSION INFORMATION

  • –The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Tuesday, October 27, 2020. Please request your ballot as soon as possible. You can mail back your ballot as soon as you receive it or use a Drop-Off Ballot Location.
  • –There will be a Drop-Off Ballot Location at the Benton County Clerk’s Office. If you use the Drop-Off Ballot Location, you will need to show your photo ID to the County Clerk Worker. You can begin using the drop-off ballot location on Monday, October 19, 2020.
        • –Benton County Clerk Drop-Off Address: 215 East Central, Bentonville, AR 72712
  • –You will be required to fill out a Voter Statement that is included with your Absentee Ballot. This statement includes a place for you to sign if you do not have photo identification or if someone is dropping off your ballot at the Drop-Off Ballot Location on your behalf. There will be an instruction checklist to make sure everything is filled out properly.

  • –Make sure that the ballot is returned before the deadline that applies to the method by which you will be returning it.
        • –Mail: Physically received in the office of the County Clerk no later than 7:30 p.m. on Election Day – November 3, 2020. POSTMARK DATE DOES NOT COUNT
        • –In-person delivery of your own ballot: Close of business the day before Election Day – November 2, 2020.
