Here is some info on the book…
What Follows Is True: Crescent Hotel, is a completed, 240-page graphic nonfiction. Channeling classic illustration and art techniques, What Follows Is True uses illustrated panel sequences intertwined with full-page, painted imagery to explore the story of the Crescent Hotel’s strange and tragic two years as the Baker Hospital, a Depression Era cancer hospital.
The Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, is considered one of the most haunted hotels in the U.S. But the bizarre and tragic story of the years when it operated as a cancer hospital haunts the hotel far more than tales of specters. Norman Baker—inventor, magician, radio announcer, and unlicensed doctor bought the failing hotel in 1937. He promised an outright cure for cancer and earned a fortune by charging exorbitant sums to desperate patients, who were then injected with useless medications. After Baker was imprisoned for fraud, the Crescent reopened as a hotel—but the place has never escaped the dark shadows of those hospital years, and apparitions of nurses, patients and crazed medical practitioners are evoked during the hotel’s nightly ghost tours.
