Hispanic Heritage Month

Sep 14, 2022

Hispanic Heritage Month is coming to the Rogers Public Library!

Did you know that September 15 to October 15 is National Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States? Here in Northwest Arkansas, our total population is about 17% Hispanic, according to the latest census results. So, it’s an especially important time for us to recognize a large portion of our population. Come celebrate with us at the Rogers Public Library. We have many activities planned to allow patrons to learn about and honor these unique cultures.

To start with, we will have several displays of flags and other traditional decorations around the library celebrating the many different countries that make up this diverse culture. You can also visit one of several book displays in our main hallway and check out books like:

Caramelo by Sandra Criseros

The Old Man’s Love Story by Rudolfo Anaya

Olga Dies Dreaming by Xochitl Gonzalez

Or for our Spanish readers, feel free to pick up one of these:

El héroe discreto by Mario Vargas Llosa

El escándalo del siglo by Gabriel García Márquez

If you speak Spanish or would like to practice your Spanish speaking/comprehension skills please join us at:
