Since 2001, If All Arkansas Read the Same Book is an annual, statewide reading program designed to encourage the enjoyment of reading and promote book discussion in libraries of all types across Arkansas.
The selection for 2022’s If All Arkansas Read the Same Book is Emily St. John Mandel’s novel, Sea of Tranquility (New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 2022). You may check out Sea of Tranquility in book or audiobook format at RPL. You may also borrow it on Arkansas Library2Go through the Libby app.
Sea of Tranquility is a novel of art, time, love, and plague that takes the reader from Vancouver Island in 1912 to a dark colony on the moon five hundred years later, unfurling a story of humanity across centuries and space.
Emily St. John Mandel will discuss Sea of Tranquility as well as the craft of writing in a live virtual visit on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. Central Daylight Time.
The program will take place via Zoom Webinar and will be livestreamed on the Arkansas State Library’s YouTube Channel. This event will be free-of-charge and open to the public; however, registration is required to participate via Zoom Webinar.
