Artist and Author Bio:

As a child I loved to draw and paint, I wanted to be an artist when I grew up – that or a horse – I wasn’t sure at the time. Fast forward several years and I had definitely ruled out being a horse. But, I wasn’t so sure about being an artist any more either. I had some close friends who seemed far more naturally talented at art than I was and I compared myself to them too much to allow myself to really try and pursue art.

Several more years past and, as a young adult, I went through some very challenging times. One outlet for me during these times was art. I ended up going back to finish my degree and minored in art and illustration. I realized that what I had seen as a lack in myself as a teenager was really just a lack of hard work and discipline. I began really applying myself to learning and growing my artistic skills.

My illustration style is inspired by western animation styles such as Disney and The Last Airbender with more shading and detailing added in. I like using bright colors, clean cut figures, and clear lines. I work in digital and traditional mediums (primarily watercolor and acrylics).  As my skills grew so did my confidence. Now, nearly a decade out of formal education I am still learning, growing, and pushing myself to be a better creator and artist.

I love creating, designing, and learning new artistic techniques including fluid art, 3D design and printing, screen-printing and vinyl design, and embossing. I have illustrated several children’s books and enjoy taking on new projects.

Along with my artistic aspirations I became interested in writing. Primarily inspired by my Nana, Billie Thompson, who is a fantastic storyteller and writer I tried to follow in her footsteps. I’ve written several children’s stories and am working on a novel. One of my favorite things is making people laugh and I love that my children’s stories have a lot of humor in them.
